Why non-therapeutic research on cannabis?

In December 2022, Health Canada introduced these interventional studies with the following main objectives:

  • Increase scientific knowledge on cannabis and its non-therapeutic effects
  • Gain knowledge to inform public health and public safety measures, public education, and policy
  • Further research and development of cannabis products

We are inviting healthy volunteers to participate in our studies

  • Our non-therapeutic studies aim to understand how cannabis is processed in the human body in both fasting and fed conditions.
  • Depending on their study group, participants will take distinct oral cannabinoid formulations and undergo multiple blood draws.

Study Design

  • One or two single-time administrations of an oral cannabinoid product, depending on the study group.
  • Compensation for participation up to $1298.
  • Minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 visits at our Montreal clinic.

Study visits (all within one week)

  • One screening visit lasting 2 hours, with one blood draw.
  • One administration visit lasting 13 hours, with multiple blood draws.
  • Two follow-up visits, each lasting 1 to 2 hours, with one blood draw per visit.
  • Repetition of these visits in the next 3 months depending on your study group.

Disclaimer

  • Participants will not be allowed to drive on administration days. A taxi ride home will be offered.
  • Participants will not be allowed to consume alcohol-based products from 24 hours prior to administration days until 48 hours after.
  • Participants will not be allowed to consume caffeine-based products from 24 hours prior to administration days until 48 hours after. Decaffeinated drinks are acceptable.
